{"id":208,"date":"2021-06-01T15:42:03","date_gmt":"2021-06-01T15:42:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/therapyplacements.wp.worc.ac.uk\/?p=208"},"modified":"2021-06-01T15:42:04","modified_gmt":"2021-06-01T15:42:04","slug":"developing-a-student-led-clinic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/therapyplacements.wp.worc.ac.uk\/index.php\/2021\/06\/01\/developing-a-student-led-clinic\/","title":{"rendered":"Developing  a Student-Led Clinic"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Following a necessary move of premesis for <a href=\"https:\/\/welllife.co.uk\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/welllife.co.uk\/\">Welllife Physiotherapy<\/a>, CEO <a href=\"https:\/\/welllife.co.uk\/our-team\/lotoya-neil\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/welllife.co.uk\/our-team\/lotoya-neil\/\">Lotoya Neil<\/a> began to investigate the benefits of developing Occupational Therapy opportunities for her clients.  This led to the creation of a Student-Led clinic, supervised by Lotoya and her colleagues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy students worked collaboratively to design the parameters of the clinic.  Together they identified existing physiotherapy clients who may benefit from occupational therapy input. This team of students comprised of 2 x 2<sup>nd<\/sup> year Occupational Therapy students, 2 x 2<sup>nd<\/sup> year Physiotherapy students and 2 x 3<sup>rd<\/sup> year Physiotherapy students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project was to create <strong>a virtual pain management program<\/strong> for service users. The student team developed a chronic pain management program, aiming to educate patients on a variety of ways they can live well with chronic pain. They researched, filmed and created a series of 11 sessions, each covering a different topic, including psychology, self-management strategies, good sleeping habits, chronic pelvic pain and many more. They had the opportunity to work with a variety of different professionals  to provide high quality of care for each patient.
